Digging into the Word of God

- The Latest Devotion from Leadership Revolution

TAKE TIME. GIVE GOD TIME to reveal Himself to you. Give yourself time to be silent and quiet before Him, waiting to receive through the Spirit the assurance of His presence with you and His power working in you. Take time to read His Word in His presence, that from it you may know what He asks of you and what He promises you. Let the Word create around you, create within you, a holy atmosphere, a holy heavenly light, in which your soul will be refreshed and strengthened for the work of daily life.

Dawson Trotman, founder of The Navigators, often would say, “Thoughts disentangle themselves as they pass from the mind through the lips and over the fingertips.”

Writing down your thoughts and drawing them together is one of the key differences between Bible reading and Bible study. A rich reservoir of scriptural knowledge can be stored for future use when written reproduction is employed.

Three ways to dig into God’s Word:

  • MEMORIZE a verse a month – Psalm 119:11
  • STUDY – Make a detailed examination of all truth – 2 Timothy 2:15
  • MEDITATE – Give thoughtful and prayerful consideration – Joshua 1:8

The PURPOSE of digging into the Word is:

  • To KNOW God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – John 17:3
  • Thus to LOVE Him affectionately, intimately – John 14:21
  • To UNDERSTAND His truth – Luke 24:27, 45
  • To ASCERTAIN His will and obey – John 14:15
  • To CHECK what you hear and read – Acts 17:11

“Application must be focused on pleasing God rather than pleasing others. Every problem a person has is related to his or her concept of God, thus attitude is as important as action in obeying God’s commands. Surrender is the cornerstone of all application. Refusal to surrender blurs our ability to discover and do God’s will.” — Walt Henrichsen

(Bruce’s Note: In 2021, Leadership Revolution is here to encourage and inspire you as a someone who desires to follow the One Leader, Jesus Christ. Purchase the Entire Devotional - "Experiencing Christ as Life and Leader"

The devotion above was taken from the 52-week Devotional entitled “Experiencing Christ as Life and Leader”.

Many give a mental assent to this teaching yet are often asking, “What do I do? What does Christ as life look like?“ Too often Christians err by moving too far to one side or the other—reducing the Christian life to a list of do’s and don’ts, or they actually do nothing.

These inspiring weekly devotions are just some of the actions that reflect the life of Christ in each of us, and they explore four areas as we follow the One Leader, Jesus Christ –

  • A Foundational Focus
  • A Personal Focus
  • A Relational Focus
  • A Missional Focus

Be challenged, encouraged, and spurred on to a deeper walk with Christ.
