Taking a Step of Faith Into the Unknown

- The Latest Devotion from Leadership Revolution

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. . . . And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” - Hebrews 11:1, 6

EVERY DAY WE ENCOUNTER LIFE SITUATIONS and opportunities that are well beyond our control or understanding. Faith is required to navigate life’s circumstances. Walking in faith is depending on God, trusting that He alone knows what is best for us and is able to bring it to pass. The challenge with faith is that it goes against our experience and natural tendencies. If we can’t see the end, we take matters into our own hands.

Faith is risk-taking and commitment before knowledge. Here are three ways to increase faith.

  1. Faith is tied to our hope. Clarify who is the one in whom you place your hope and what you hope for. These must have God at the core and eternity as their end.
  2. Faith is based on God’s character. He is all-powerful, all loving, and all-knowing. Although we can’t see Him, we can know in our spirit that He is present and at work.
  3. Faith comes from hearing the truth of the Word of God. We must know God’s Word, and our faith will grow as we apply His truth to our lives.

The outcome of faith is that it pleases God. God’s heart is warmed as we risk it all in following after the Lord.

“A real Christian is an odd number, anyway. He feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen; talks familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see; expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another; empties himself in order to be full; admits he is wrong so he can be declared right; goes down in order to get up; is strongest when he is weakest; richest when he is poorest and happiest when he feels the worst. He dies so he can live; forsakes in order to have; gives away so he can keep; sees the invisible; hears the inaudible; and knows that which passes knowledge.” — A. W. Tozer, The Root of Righteousness

(Bruce’s Note: In 2021, Leadership Revolution is here to encourage and inspire you as a someone who desires to follow the One Leader, Jesus Christ. Twice a month, you’ll receive a new, brief devotional, and this first collection of devotions focuses on the foundational ideas and principles of following Jesus.)

Experiencing Christ as Life is the Heart of Our Walk with Jesus

This devotion was taken from the 52-week Devotional entitled “Experiencing Christ as Life and Leader”.

Many give a mental assent to this teaching yet are often asking, “What do I do? What does Christ as life look like?“ Too often Christians err by moving too far to one side or the other—reducing the Christian life to a list of do’s and don’ts, or they actually do nothing.

These inspiring weekly devotions are just some of the actions that reflect the life of Christ in each of us, and they explore four areas as we follow the One Leader, Jesus Christ –

  • A Foundational Focus
  • A Personal Focus
  • A Relational Focus
  • A Missional Focus

Be challenged, encouraged, and spurred on to a deeper walk with Christ.
